Adopt a pet: Name: Pringle - Age: 2 years - Sex: Male
Pringle is a two year old terrier X. He is a lovely friendly little dog full of fun and loves to chase a ball!  He is very affectionate and has to lick to greet you.  He gets on great with other dogs.  Here he is during our recent photo shoot for our Christmas Cards.  What Pringle is wishing for this Christmas is a loving forever home.  Could you make his dreams come true?  Click here to find out more about Pringle and the rest of the animals available to adopt!

Wicklow SPCA news:

We wish all our supporters and friends a very Happy New Year.  Thank you to everyone who has helped us out in anyway in 2011, helping us at Flag Days, running a cake sale on our behalf, helping us care for the animals, the list of ways you help us out is endless and we couldn't manage without you, so THANK YOU.

Table Quiz

Wicklow and District Lions Club are holding a Table Quiz in aid of ourselves on Thursday 2nd February 2012 at 8.30pm in Fitzpatrick's Pub, Rathnew.  Come and join us for a great night out and help to support the animals.

Department of Agriculture Grant

We wish to acknowledge receipt of an ex-gratia grant to the Wicklow SPCA from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.  Our sincerest thanks to Minister Simon Coveney TD for the grant.  This grant will be invaluable in helping the animals in our care and help us with our ongoing work.

Cattery

We at the Wicklow SPCA are looking into an overall plan to upgrade all the facilities here at the Sanctuary for all the animals in our care.  It has come to our attention that first on the list to upgrade is the cattery.  It is with this in mind we are going to extend the cattery and upgrade the current building.  This is spurred on by the kind and generous donation of animal isolation units donated by UCD, which will much improve our isolation.  We are also going to have a cat and kitten unit.

So it is with these improvements in mind that we are now in earnest fundraising to complete the build by the end of this year.  We are asking people to “Sponsor a Brick” at €5.  Again we are asking and depending on people’s generosity and kind heartedness to continue to strive to provide the best facilities and care for the cats in our care.  It is only through your kind donations that we can achieve this.  Our aim is to raise 15,000 euro and as of 17th October 2011 we have raised just under 1000 euro.  11th November: We have raised just under 1500 euro.  Thank you so much to all those who have so generously given.  We still have a long way to go to reach our target, please help and support the cats.

So on 17th October 2011 work started on the Cattery.  As you can see from the pictures things always look worse before they are better.

11th November:  The build is coming on brilliant.  As you can see from the pictures the foundations are in and the walls are up to roof level.

Volunteer work for Wicklow SPCA:

The Wicklow SPCA are always happy to hear from that people wish to volunteer. There is a lot to do and with the more people helping us, we get a great sense of community spirit and appreciation for the centre. If you wish to volunteer, please see volunteering page for details.

Salesforce.com

Again this year a group of employees from Salesforce.com volunteered their time and money to fund a project here at the Sanctuary.  The project took the form of painting the entrance to the Sanctuary.  Many thanks to them and to the paint and paintbrush providers.  The project was co ordinated by the Volunteer Ireland, many thanks to Yvonne Ryan.  A great day was had and lunch was provided to all.

School Educational Programme:

The educational programme is in full swing in Sharpeshill Animal Sanctuary.  There has been numerous visits from different school groups.  A DVD presentation on animal awareness and a tour of the premises is very popular with all the students.  The presentation finishs with a very informative questions and answers session.  We would like to thank all students for their very generous donations.  If you know of any group or school that are interested in arranging a visit please contact the office at 0404 44783.
